Outline
Write my novel about women's rights. Set in the future. 30 years in the future. MC starts as 25. The climax of the story is when she turns 30 and has to become conceivable or else damned inconceivable.
Written in the third person(IL)-past.
Inner Limited is: "Her face twitched, a bit of sweat traveled down her chin, causing a prickling sensation that forced her jaw to tighten."
Outer Limited is: "The observer saw her face twitch. Seemingly he was making her sweat. And was that a look of distate?"
I choose inner limited. Because this is prose based on women's rights, written by a woman, about a woman, and it is an opinion political/religious piece. I couldn't believe I would understand multiple viewpoints on this subject. I barely understand my own.
In third person Inner Limited the storyteller is looking at life through only one character's heart and mind.
Outline:
1) MC is on the cusp of turning thirty. The eve of her examination is drawing to a close and tomorrow she will be deemed conceivable, or inconceivable. She is at home, going through the daily mail- a bunch of propaganda selling her marriage services and baby clothes. The world expects her to have done her job right, to have prepared herself to be conceivable. Why would anyone choose to live a life otherwise?
2) MC is at work, she just got a new position, all the glitz and glam of higher pay, better role. Only her coworkers seem to be keeping something from her. Maybe not from her, but from this new situation they're all in.
3) MC goes to see a rally on the evolution of women, a history lesson of sorts.
4) MC has multiple partners of varying gender classification because she is infertile and thus "asex". She enjoys the freedom and experiences she can have without repercussions.
5) MC does not have the capacity to discern differences in gender.
6) MC explores the history of her gender with a friend ProF.
7) A Howling screech sounds off down the hallway at work one night. At first MC is prepared for action, then when nothing happens, she is wary of developing sounds. She is cautious.
8) MC sees a scene where an inconceivable gets hauled off. She sees the horror of the scene and no one sees her.
9) MC starts having health issues that alert her to believe she may be deemed inconceivable.
10) MC goes undercover to find out how her life might be as an inconceivable. Until now, all females she knows want to be conceivable and often commit suicide or go crazy or become prostitues if they are deemed inconceivable.
11) MC is undercover at a night club in the red light district. There is also a dark sub-culture of less than 30s that party with the inconceivables, but this is still a veiled version of the horror.
12) Through a chat with a mysterious figure (transgender?), MC finds out that women have been oppressed in the past, and are still being oppressed in this world.
13) MC, scared and confused by the information she has seen/heard recently, is wandering through the red light district. She starts to get hounded by a handful of men who frequent the whore houses and they rush her out to the main street- which happens to be like manhattan; clean, bright, respectable, the men lurch off into the shadows and she shivers on the stone walkway- a light mist of rain starts to fall.
14) MC is saved by ProM and ProF.
15) MC starts exhibiting more issues with becoming conceivable (money issues?/ job?). She doesn't want to be conceivable anymore, but society will ruin her once she is deemed inconceivable.
16) MC is found conceivable, and now her worst nightmare is true. She is a slave to having babies- but she wants to remain Asex.
17) MC is on the run to remain Asex for her own selfish reasons. She doesn't realize the stand she is making to society, the govt, and religion.
18) MC falls in love with her friend ProF.
19) MC makes a stand against the govt, in the name of all Asex, Conceivable and Inconceivables everywhere.
20) MC walks out on a cold windy day. At the very moment her body enters the outside, bells ring in the distance. Ominous and full, the bells toll the hour and she smiles to herself, ruffles her scarf, and walks on.
I will probably get more information and scenes out of the forums.
-the world will have collapsed from south/north. Maybe even west/east. We could have a four-way split.
How could the south play a part in this? How could the north? What drives MC to make the stand publicly? How best can she do that?
